Below are the ELMS PTA committees that are always looking for volunteers:
Fundraising - coordinate logistics for PTA bake sales at fall & spring ELMS theater shows as well as winter online Taharka ice cream fundraiser. All other ideas are welcome!
Restaurant Nights - coordinate monthly restaurant night fundraisers.
Spirit Wear - coordinate selection and sale of ELMS apparel.
Social Events - plan and execute social activities for students including fall & spring 6/7th grade socials. Other ideas include game, movie, or sports nights, etc.
Principal's Honor Roll Celebrations - coordinate quarterly food for Straight As celebrations.
8th-Grade Team - coordinate End of Year 8th-grade dance and yard sign sale.
Yearbook Volunteer - provide parent / student perspective and support ELMS staff member coordinating yearbook creation.
Scholarship - share scholarship forms with local high schools, gather applications, form a committee to review and award a graduating HCPSS 12th-grade student.
Hospitality - coordinate lunch for parent-teacher conferences in November.
Sunshine Cart - coordinate with administrators to provide bimonthly small staff appreciation treats.
Staff Appreciation Week - coordinate food and decorations for Staff Appreciation Week in May.
School Improvement Plan Volunteer - provide parent / student perspective on ELMS school improvement plan initiatives.
PTACHC Rep (PTA Council of Howard County) - attend monthly PTACHC meetings and report back at the monthly ELMS PTA meeting.
SECAC Rep (Special Education Citizens Advisory Committee) - attend SECAC meetings and report back at the monthly ELMS PTA meeting.
GTAC Rep (Gifted & Talented Advisory Committee) - attend GTAC meetings and report back at the monthly ELMS PTA meeting.
Executive Board positions and descriptions:
President:
Overall leader of the PTA, responsible for presiding over meetings, representing the organization publicly, and coordinating board activities.
Vice President:
Assists the President, often with specific areas of focus like programs, membership, or fundraising.
Treasurer:
Manages the PTA finances, including collecting dues, maintaining accurate records, and preparing financial reports.
Recording Secretary:
Takes minutes at PTA meetings, maintains official records, and distributes meeting summaries.
